Book Review: The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
My Rating: 4.5/5

This novel is as unique as a White tiger. It is unlike anything else before and is certainly the kind that comes out only once in a few generations. And with its descriptions and imagery, it leaves the readers with a unexplainable feeling of admiration and amazement.
What makes this novel praiseworthy is the fact that it has portrayed India in a hue the outside world is not very familiar with. It has quite literally shed light on the "darkness"; the part of India not a whole lot of people know about. The symbolism are worth appreciating especially that of the white tiger, water buffalo, chandelier, and the egg shell called the Honda City.
The castism, poverty, and discrimination in India are painted in a color like never before and albeit being written in 2008, the background of modern India shown in the novel still holds true to today.
The story is gripping and definitely becomes a page turner/ nail bitter. I highly recommend this novel especially those who are trying to see India in its true flavors with the great disparity that exists between the rich and the poor, pessimism and optimism; the light and the darkness.
